Automation is an added advantage of the AIT 5 tape technology as it is a product of enterprise class. AIT tape format is based on "helical scan". The media of advanced intelligent tape (AIT) moves under less stress and tension, therefore its performance and durability enhances.
The compression mechanism in AIT-5 SDX5-400W tape is based on ALDC algorithm that makes the tape cartridge capable of storing 1.04TB compressed data at ratio of 2.6:1. AIT5 tape format is capable of reading & writing AIT-3Ex media, AIT-4 media and AIT3 tape media. Therefore the users do not have to sacrifice compatibility or access with the prior AIT tape versions and they can easily migrate to the latest Sony AIT5 tape SDX5-400C tape format. The tape drives of fifth generation AIT technology are multi-functional and the WORM feature is also incorporated in them. Sony offers a complete range of AIT 5 tape products that include external & internal tape drives, cartridges; slim and desktop 2U and 1U rack mountable automation devices.
